Insomnia: The CBD Impact

insomnia and how cbd may help

How does CBD help with Insomnia?

Roughly 30% of American Adults have experienced insomnia, and 10% of those have severe enough insomnia that it will disrupt their daily activities. CBD has been shown in many instances to relieve conditions that contribute to insomnia as well as acting as a sleep aid. Particularly by reducing pain or relieving anxiety. CBD has a biphasic response, essentially meaning that lower doses will tend to stimulate and higher doses tend to sedate. You will need to find your sweet spot for encouraging sleep. We do highly encourage that you consult a healthcare professional before incorporating CBD into your sleep hygiene routine.

Insomnia makes it difficult to fall asleep, stay asleep or wake up feeling generally rested. There are two forms of Insomnia. Some are known to experience acute insomnia, which can last a few days, even weeks. Chronic insomnia the latter. Insomnia can typically be controlled by lifestyle tweaks that can help get general sleeping habits back on track for optimal rest.

Insomnia may be caused as a side effect of medications or of other conditions such as sleep apnea or chronic pain. Staying asleep or falling asleep can be a result of one of these factors:

Caffeine- Consuming caffeine within 5 hours within your bedtime.

Late Night Snacks-  Late night meals allow less time for digestion before lying down for bed. Some may experience heartburn or other discomfort which will interfere with sleep.

Stress- A pacing mind will undoubtedly make it challenging to get a decent night’s sleep. Combined with grief and depression will undoubtedly lead to chronic insomnia.

So you ask, “Ok fine I get it. How can CBD help?” Clinicians recommend a CBD supplement at higher doses in order to sedate. You will need to microdose in order to find your specific CBD sweet spot. If you are taking medications we urge that you consult your medical physician prior to including CBD into your sleep regimen.

The secret is within the endocannabinoid system as it is intimately intertwined with sleep.  The endocannabinoids that we make, fluctuate with the circadian rhythm;  an internal process that regulates the sleep-wake cycle and repeats on each rotation of the Earth roughly every 24 hours. CBD in stronger doses may help reset your sleep cycle and reduce underlying conditions such as anxiety and inflammation.

If you struggle with insomnia, C-Renity CBD tinctures paired with some adjustments to your sleeping regimen may vastly improve your quality of rest.
